Welcome!
I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at CEMFI. During the 2024-25 academic year, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford's King Center on Global Development. I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University.
My research interests are in Development Economics, Environmental Economics and Cultural Economics, with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa.
I am interested in the interaction between cultural norms and the process of economic development. As part of this agenda, I am currently working on field experiments to test how culturally grounded policies can alleviate constraints to development. Specifically, my ongoing projects target water scarcity in Egypt and Jordan, and religious tension in Lebanon. My research is being supported by the International Growth Centre and the J-PAL Egypt Impact Lab.
